The client initially employed us to carry out some minor asphalt repair works in the HGV fuel filling area of the service station. Prior to commencing these works our highly-experienced surveyors visited the site and identified further areas that required urgent attention due to subsided, defective, and failed surfacing.

A meeting with BP’s Asset and Project Management Team was requested where a revised scope of works was agreed. NMC surfacing worked closely with the client to ensure that their revised budget was met without any detriment to the overall project requirements.


This project comprised of deep excavation, the installation of concrete kerbs, and heavy duty inspection and drainage covers. The resurfacing works included planning on the existing issue, relaying base, binder and surface course, full site clearance, and line marking.

NMC Surfacing provided a Traffic Management Plan which involved the closure of a lane on the A14 and the slip road leading into the service station. Due to some of the repairs being deemed high risk to public health and safety, NMC Surfacing negotiated a three-day emergency road closure with the Local Authorities and Highways England.

NMC Surfacing scored 100% from BP’s HSSE auditor who was present on site monitoring the project throughout its progression.
