Following inspection, it was agreed that NMC Surfacing would install a new drainage system and resurface the areas of the car park that had been identified as requiring urgent attention.
The project was carried out over a one night shift preventing any disruption or loss of trade to the retailers. Traffic Management was supplied and included a traffic marshal, signage, and barriers.
To provide the new drainage required it was necessary to relocate and install a new gully system and manhole chamber. The civils gang planed out a trench at the entrance to the retail park for the new system and then re-piped this to an existing manhole. Once this was complete they laid and reinstated the surface course. They were also instructed to remove seven damaged kerb stones and replace with new ones.
Whilst the civils works were taking place the surfacing crew worked on replacing the worn areas of the car park. This required them to plane out several patches. These areas were swept clean and tac coat was applied before they were reinstated.
